 TEASER DESCRIPTION

A native ʻIʻiwi (Scarlet Honeycreeper) rare, seemingly lost, alone against high mountain ridgeline, vog drifting low beneath it.

Secluded away the breezes pass through high mountains. The creation of a house that brought in the world, pushed out identity through our breath.

Cut to the HR Railways in motion — an aerial line cutting across the island. Then a hard cut into the system's own interface: the route map glowing, a station name highlighting. Then back out to a real station platform, quiet.

As the air exhales through its people, society goes silent.

Camera drops from the top of the city downward — Upper-Living glow giving way to commercial High-Living, then the dimmer, denser Lower-Living streets at night. Ends on the ocean, visibly duller, polluted, lapping against a sea wall.

In the lungs of those gasping for oxygen in the stifling vog, the stories that traversed would be perpetual in its wake.

The restaurant's warm windows glowing against the dusk. A flicker of visible mana energy near the doorway, and the silhouette of a Roamer passing in the background, unremarked-on by anyone inside.

Unchanging over time the stories drift until they come pass us all.

A held beat — stillness over the city. Nothing moving. The held breath before the final turn.

After the winds have stopped, a shaking of the skin moves as things take a turn. For what may come, there might be emptiness.

At first light the artificial crustacean enclosures catching the early sun. A night market still finishing up, lanterns dimming as daylight takes over.

The movement of the hair flows again.

Amika, Maia, Lita, Gina, and Nami — not in costume, not mid-battle, just walking the sidewalk near the market at sunrise, ordinary, alive, unaware of being watched. No music swell. No slow-motion. Just five girls on their way somewhere.

Before it is gone, the seal has been sent. The envelope has been pushed.

"You ever feel like you built something for everybody else... and forgot to save a seat for yourself."

"Nobody told me belonging somewhere was something you had to learn."

It's a story about a man who built a home for everyone else because he couldn't find one for himself. Set in a futuristic Hawaii — a neon megacity built on the bones of everything that was displaced to create it — it follows the people who fell through the cracks of that world and are slowly, painfully finding their way back to each other. The music is the key. There are ten groups of people. Each one lost in a different way. Each one carrying a different wound. And eventually they all converge. By the end you will feel what it means to be seen by someone who knew you before you decided who you needed to be.
